For many years, the church’s work with children was focussed on supporting the community’s children through the village’s Church of England Primary School.
The Rector was involved with occasional RE lessons and led Collective Worship in assemblies each week.
We welcomed the school to the church building to support its Religious Education and PHSE curricula as well as for special events like the Harvest Festival and end of term services. Every year, we gave a Bible to all the Year 6 school leavers.
Because the school was a Church of England School, the church was represented on the Governing Body. The Rector was Chair of Governors for several years, and helped design and administer the school’s website.
Sadly, the village school closed in July 2022 following a statutory consultation process.
The PCC is considering how the church might support the village’s children now the school is closed.
