On a warm, dry summer evening in Wareside, the picturesque setting of the barn at Watersplace played host to another special musical event from The Vicar & Friends. With its idyllic rural charm and natural acoustics, the location proved to be the perfect backdrop for an evening of live music, church and community spirit and relaxed enjoyment.
Rector Mark & Friends* and Max Robinson took to the stage and captivated the crowd with an eclectic and uplifting set that ranged from the smooth harmonies of the Eagles to the timeless rhythms of Bob Marley, among many others. Their performances were spirited and sincere, with “The Vicar” himself leading the ensemble with warmth, talent, and an unmistakable joy for sharing music.

The Buxtons, as ever, were gracious and generous hosts, ensuring everything ran smoothly and making every guest feel welcome. Their care and attention to detail helped make the event feel personal and well-organised, and it included a bar with hot dogs and snacks, while still retaining its laid-back country vibe.
Guests arrived prepared for the setting, bringing along fold-up chairs or making the most of the rustic hay bales thoughtfully arranged around the venue. The crowd, a mix of local residents and visitors, were relaxed, cheerful, and clearly appreciative of both the music and the setting. Applause, smiles, and the occasional spontaneous dance all spoke volumes about how well the band was received.
As the sun set over Watersplace, the golden light added a final touch of magic to an already memorable evening. It was a celebration not only of music, but of community, hospitality, and the simple joy of a summer’s night well spent. So a huge thanks to everyone involved: the musicians, the Buxtons and the supporters, all of whom helped create a truly lovely evening.
All in all, it was an occasion to remember – a wonderful way to fundraise for Wareside church, and an event that perfectly captured the spirit of village life and the unifying power of music.
