We’re pleased to be registered with the organisation “Caring for God’s Acre” for our event on 14th June as part of their annual “Love Your Burial Ground Week.”

We know how important the churchyard is to people in the village, with some families able to count several generations of their relatives laid to rest there. With Commonwealth War Graves and dedicated areas for wildlife as well as the current burying area, it is a truly precious place.

Therefore, we hope the community will come to join us from 3pm till 5pm as we take some steps towards making the churchyard more accessible and to explore some of the wildlife which makes its home there.

We will be adding more detail to the event programme over the coming weeks, but we expect the following activities to take place:

  • Levelling of graves which have sunk over time
  • Trimming and tidying of churchyard borders
  • Tree, plant and wildlife identification and survey
  • Churchyard mapping.

We plan to provide nature-based activities for children (under the supervision of a parent or guardian).

The High Sheriff of Hertfordshire has agreed to join us to open the event at 3pm.

Please register your interest in the event using the form below so that we can keep you informed.
