“But this is your hour; when darkness reigns.”
So said the Lord Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane when confronted by the mob and the temple soldiers sent to arrest him. There’s no doubt about it, whilst the Gospels introduce us to Jesus by telling of his kindness and love, they are not silent on the opposition he faced. In the week before he died, this opposition grew ever stronger – the darkness creeping up to the light of the world, seeking to suffocate him – to snuff him out.
Our moving candlelit service on Maundy Thursday retells some of the accounts of the approaching darkness and invites us to ponder the extent of the darkness in our own hearts.
Do join us in Wareside Church at 8pm on Maundy Thursday, 14th April.
